Lifestyles – Creating Your Best Fit
We all want an incredible life and a large part of that is identifying and creating a lifestyle that suits us - finding our "best fit". When embarking on this quest, we start out gung ho, excited about the possibilities for what we want our lives to look and feel like. We create a plan and begin taking action toward the creation of that lifestyle. Everything comes together smoothly and before we know it, we are more fully experiencing life.

True lifestyle change IS possible when you focus on creating or finding one that fits you instead of trying to fit yourself into one that you think you "should". In September of 2007 I joined a gym - something I vowed I would never do since I thought it was not a "good fit" for me. Well much to my surprise, a gym environment was now a perfect fit for the new lifestyle I had created when I became a business owner. You see, it offers me just the right environment of energy and activity that I was needing since I work from home. It became my home away from home - that place to go for much more than exercise. For me, the gym is a perfect fit because it gives me strength, vitality, variety, energy, connections with others and it fit my schedule perfectly! It was easy to incorporate it into my lifestyle, and it has become such an integral part of it that I would not think of missing a day. This is a true lifestyle change - a true "best fit"

On the other hand, reality is that sometimes life creeps in and gets in the way of our great plans, disrupting the momentum we have built. Occasionally this happens without us even realizing it until one day we wake up and ask "what happened to my plans?" "How did I get so far off track?" "What happened to the new healthy habits I was engaging in?" Then suddenly you are back to your old comfortable habits that no longer benefit you. To stay with the health example, my lifestyle change with food has not been as easy or effortless as my exercise routine. Sure I started out with a "bang" by joining The Balance Program - an online program of diet and lifestyle assessment, e-coaching sessions with my own dietitian, and an online workbook - a great fit for me since it allowed me to go at my own pace, learn about my body, nutrition, and what kinds of changes are right for me personally. I loved it - yet slowly life got in the way (well rather ice cream, cake, cookies, parties etc got in front of me) and my thoughts went to "well, since I am going to the gym, I could surely eat more of this or that" Then, before I knew it, the scale began creeping up again and I felt that I had lost my way.

What I failed to remember though, is that I have made some lasting lifestyle changes with food (protein at each meal to feel fuller, more fruit, whole grains, healthier snacking) and I also have learned what takes me off track (that buffet or party with a variety of selections that compel me try one of everything). When we get off track, away from our "best fit" lifestyle, it can be easy to get back. What's the solution? Awareness to know when you have steered away from your intended path, understanding of your preferred lifestyle to know if this practice is a "best fit", and most importantly, support in either coming back to your path or forging a new one. Is it Really So Difficult to Change a Lifestyle?
The contemporary lifestyle is generally not conducive to healthy living. People drink too much, eat too much, and some even smoke too much. In addition, most live in daily stress with sleep deprivation. Furthermore, many rely on caffeine and medications to keep them alert and functional. The good news is that many are aware of the need to change lifestyle for the better. The bad news is that it is difficult to change lifestyle: bad habits are easy to form, but difficult to eradicate.
But is it really so difficult to change lifestyle?
It is more than just willpower: you require strategies to change lifestyle.
You need not only to resolve to make a change in your diet and lifestyle, but also to re-commit yourself on a regular basis with determination and perseverance. Taking the first step is diffcult, but none the less essential. The ancient Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu once said: "A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step." So, take your first step, and do it NOW, not later. Procrastination is the enemy of change.
Do not allow yourself to slack. A lifelong commitment to change means lifelong healthy living.
Be positive, rather than be anxious or fearful. Positive reinforcement is more conducive to changing a lifelong habit than negative emotions of anxiety and fear. Break yourself of bad food habits for healthy living. Reward yourself with a healthy alternative, such as an activity (a facial, a massage, a symphony or an opera), instead of a food item. Rewarding yourself with food usually perpetuates the sin of food craving.
Always set reasonable and achievable goals for changing a behaviour or life pattern. Without goals, there will only be excuses and procrastination.
Give yourself positive personal affirmations and personal messages to increase self-esteem to change lifestyle. Always, visualize your success. Seeing is believing. Visual images may make you see your own future success in your mind's eye.
Change lifestyle gradually. Tackle just one major change at a time. Do not attempt to change everything overnight: this is often a recipe for failure. Take one step at a time, and small steps at that.
Expect to slip from time to time. Relapse is only natural. It is human nature to err. Consider it a learning experience; recharge yourself immediately and move on. Do not look back; otherwise, you may experience guilt and inadequacy.
Get support from family and friends. Do not strive to fight against all odds all by yourself. Sharing your struggle to change lifestyle is the key to success. Keep a daily journal to record all your health and weight problems, and note how they may be connected to your lifestyle.
Observe your emotional problems, if you have any, and see how they may be related to your social life or diet.
If you think you need to change lifestyle, maybe you should. It is never too late to change for the better. It is your life ahead of you. Of course, on the other hand, if you don't think you need to make any change to your current lifestyle, it is your perception and your choice too.

Life Versus Lifestyle
There is a difference but what constitutes a life and what constitutes a lifestyle is pretty ambiguous. One thing that seems pretty clear to me is the lifestyle is observable while a life can have many internal aspects to it. A lifestyle can include people, material things, environments, how we spend our time, energy, and money. A life includes things like our beliefs, our values, our commitments, our soul's dream, and our vision. If you choose a lifestyle first you could wind up with an empty fortress. If you choose the life first, you will design your lifestyle to support the life.
Since most of us already have a lifestyle, and a default life, we usually have to do some redesign work. Choose a life and then redesign our lifestyle. It is possible that the lifestyle you currently have will never support the life you truly want to live. It is possible the lifestyle you currently have has many supporting structures and only minor renovations need to occur. It is possible that you are a highly intuitive person and your lifestyle is in perfect alignment. I know very few people who fall into that category. My dad does but what I notice about him, is he and my mother made a conscious decision to structure their lives around their spiritual values. They made that decision early in their marriage and lived true to it. Now it's interesting that my parents are actually old enough to be my grandparents, (my mother is no long living) and I noticed that many earlier generations were not given to having transformational conversations so learning was a very different process then than it is now. The fact that we have e-courses and teleclasses and magazines and tons of books that are created to help people learn to live more meaningful and personally fulfilling lives represents a shift from how things use to be.
As we evolve we begin to look at various aspects of our lives for congruence to our values and commitments. The disparity shows up with exclamation marks behind them and sometimes our response is discouragement and self-disappointment. We act as if we should have known better when the truth is how could we have known better? So the first thing to get over is "I didn't know" and then after we get over that we come to "but I know now...now what?" It takes a courageous person to see this and then set their intentions on bringing integrity into their life so that their lifestyle gives them a life that serves their higher self. You will notice some people trying to work around it, pretending it doesn't matter that their lifestyles don't measure up to their core values.
The real problem is once you see the inconsistency, not doing anything actually makes things worse and you lose ground really fast. It cost you big time to keep that inconsistency in place. You can't be with yourself and be at peace in your life. It wears you down like water will wear down a mountain over time. Your life will devolve instead of evolve. If that is not a price that's too high to pay, I don't know what is. Just think about it and choose wisely the path you will follow.

Using an Internet Business and Passive Income As a Lifestyle Design Aid
The question that I've been pondering lately is this: what exactly is lifestyle design?
It was only a few weeks ago that I first heard the term lifestyle design. I had no idea what exactly that meant, but in very basic terms I knew that a lifestyle was how someone lives, and design is creation. But, to create your own lifestyle? I didn't quite understand the idea.
Lifestyle design is such a new term that it's not even on Wikipedia yet, but successful Internet business gurus are using it like we use air to breathe. So, I decided to do some research.
I learned that lifestyle design, actually creating your own lifestyle and living how you want to live, is something that is very real. People like Timothy Ferriss, author of The 4-Hour Workweek, has done things in his life to live exactly how he wants to live. He's a national Chinese Kickboxing Champion, a break dancer in Taiwan, actor and a multi-millionaire. He's able to do these things because he has created businesses and utilizes outsourcing to allow him to only have to work four hours a week, which opens up more time in his life for doing things that he wants.
I want that.
You probably think that his life is the way it is because of the decisions and actions he has made. Although that's true, the way we describe him with respect to lifestyle design is the other way around:
"He took specific actions and made specific decisions based on the kind of life he wants tolive."
I think that most people, myself included, never really think about the exact lifestyle that we want to live. Yes, we do have goals and work really hard for them (retirement, millions of dollars, owning a company), but we hardly ever think about the lifestyle we want, and how we want our daily lives to be.
We make decisions and work hard for our goals, but do we do the same for our ideal lifestyle?
If someone has earned $500,000 in a year, they may have reached or surpassed their goal. But if it took them 90 hours a week to get there, they may not be living their ideal lifestyle.
See the difference?
It's a fact that everybody will have different ideas of what their ideal lifestyle should be. You have to really think about it, deep down inside about how exactly you want your life to be. That being said, if you earn a passive income, you have the ability to more easily design your own lifestyle. That extra paycheck in your bank account not only gives you more money, it can also give you more time and freedom to do whatever it is you want to do.
For example, I actually enjoy working in an office. At the same time, I don't want to work 8 hours a day because I'd rather spend more time with my family. Earning a passive income allows me to do this because I just work part-time while earning the same amount of money (maybe even more) as if I was working 8 hours a day with earning no passive income.
Also, my fiancee and I love to travel. Say we want to take a one month vacation in an exotic place each year. Why do I have to use the money from the income I already make? I can just create a new passive income stream (a new product, website, what have you) and use that money for traveling. That way, I don't risk an impact on the other parts of my life. I'm designing my own lifestyle.
It's not about working X hours for X dollars. It's about working hard now, so you can reap the benefits and live how you want to, later. Earning passive income creates freedom.
It's definitely easier said than done, obviously - but with some hard work and determination, we'll be able to design the lifestyle we want using the benefits of earning a passive income, which we are working for today.

Can A Natural Health Lifestyle Assist Me?
Why ME, is what anybody suffering from Myalgic Encephalomyetis, might ask themselves. After all ME, or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) as it is also known, can descend like a dark debilitating cloud, even upon those who previously enjoyed good health. It is possible that changing to a natural health lifestyle could assist.
The medical profession has not always been helpful, and even now, there are doctors who are reluctant to admit that ME exists. It is regrettable that, as yet, there are no tests to confirm a diagnosis, but in the absence of other causes, the symptoms are clearly indicative that something serious is amiss. Such symptoms include muscle joint pain, headaches, nausea, depression, an inability to concentrate, and physical depletion. In these circumstances, a natural health lifestyle may help guard against the continued onslaught that could result in those afflicted, becoming overwhelmed and chronically fatigued.
To understand how to recover from ME, you need to know what caused it, and you could then attempt to reverse the process, which could include adapting to a natural health lifestyle. It is not unusual for the symptoms to arise after a viral infection, such as influenza. In such cases it would seem that even after the virus has been eliminated and seen off, the body does not fully recover but remains in a state of depletion. Any further stress compounds the problem, and an array of symptoms results. These are not the normal problems that occur after an illness, but something much more pronounced that seems to continue indefinitely.
So what can you do? Therein lies a clue, because unless you are fortunate enough to have a doctor who recognises, and therefore has experience of dealing with ME, it must largely be a case of what you can do to help yourself. It seems that ME is a modern dis-ease, that may respond favourably to a natural health lifestyle.
It is true that ME was at one time also known as 'yuppy flu'. That was because it frequently, but not always, affected high achievers or those aspiring to be so. It is possible that some high achievers push themselves over and beyond others with lower aspirations. In such circumstances, and particularly after a setback such as a severe viral infection can induce, it is not surprising that fatigue can set in, and become chronic. It surely would be less likely to do so, in those who undertake a natural health lifestyle, to build up their immune systems.
So, in the absence of an enlightened medical practitioner, how can people with ME help themselves? Strangely, there may be some obvious answers. If you are chronically fatigued it makes good sense to decide on how you can improve your well being, with a natural health lifestyle. Resting and relaxing are two of the ingredients, needed to offset severe tiredness. Unfortunately, they could be misconstrued as a waste of time by the relentlessly ambitious.
Resting does not usually mean taking to your bed, although it can mean just that in extreme circumstances. More generally it means proceeding calmly, unhurriedly, and at a sensible pace. For example, a natural health lifestyle could assist you to replace intense concentration, with calm consideration, that could help in achieving your objectives.
People suffering from ME, do not usually have the same intensity of symptoms all of the time. Not for 24 hours per day every day. Therefore, at such times as they feel somewhat better, they should avoid situations that will drive them back into the abyss of fatigue. This could involve doing something different, or something peaceful, or therapeutic, such as a natural health lifestyle could provide.
It would require a conscious effort to consider your actions, and decide not to start flogging yourself, just because the symptoms had temporarily subsided. If you did charge headlong back into the fray, you would soon become run down, and encourage the symptoms to return with a vengeance. Better to continue with a natural health lifestyle, and see whether periods of relative comfort could be extended.
In the ME sufferer, the immune system, and general resilience to illness, have been compromised. A natural health approach to the condition might very well assist, and at least could do no harm. A good detox could be a sound way to start. There are many publications advising on how a detox might be achieved, but an easy way is simply to drink at least two litres of water per day, for two or three weeks.
If you felt that a simple detox had assisted you, as part of a natural health lifestyle, you would know that you were on the right track. ME is not something you were born with, but something that was triggered by factors outside your control. It could have been a viral infection, or stress piled upon stress, or whatever.
Please be assured that there are many people who have recovered, including those who have learned to manage ME and not allow it to be in control. What is for sure is that ME is a real illness, but in some instances the outlook can be greatly improved by undertaking a natural health lifestyle.

Drink lots of water! Don't get too hung up about where you get your water, if you have only got access to tap water, then so be it. The MAIN thing is that you are properly hydrated.
The raw lifestyle is about proper hydration levels!
Sleep
It is essential to sleep enough! When you are involved in vigorous physical activity you need more sleep!
Humans originate in the tropics, where it is dark for 12 hours and light for 12 hours.
It makes sense to assume that in nature we would have slept for 12 hours a day.
This is ideal!
If you can't make time to sleep 12 hours a night, then try and hit at least 9 or 10. You'll feel so much better!

Making a Healthy Lifestyle Change – 6 Essential Steps
Making a healthy lifestyle change can be quite challenging, even if you have attempted to undertake such a change before. Many of us mortal humans have tried and failed on countless occasions to make these seemingly simple adjustments in our daily or weekly routines. The problem is that most of us have no idea what we are getting into when we make these commitments to ourselves. After all, how difficult could it be to set aside an extra thirty minutes a day to fit in some exercise or drink an additional 20 ounces of water per day? Are you lazy or do you just lack will power?
Chances are it's none of the above. You can't simply pass this one off as a character flaw. The more likely explanation is that your brain doesn't work the way you thought it did. This is not a bad thing. It's just something you need to be aware of. After all, you are going up against years of behavior and habit. An individual does not become overweight or arthritic or diabetic overnight. Maybe you should not expect to be able to change it all in a day or a week, or even a month. While you have within yourself the ability to make these changes, whether you actually take the actions necessary to bring about these changes is a matter of how well you know yourself. Here are six essential steps to learning more about what makes you tick and how to make a healthy lifestyle change.
1. Identify Your Priorities and Commitments
Have you ever considered the fact that your behaviors and habits are determined by your priorities? Doesn't it make sense then that if you change your priorities your behavior will also change? The problem with this scenario is that changing your priorities is much more difficult than changing your behavior and attempting to do one without the other is rarely successful. If we focus on the behavior without determining the priorities, the behavior will always revert back.
The first thing to do is to identify your priorities. This is really a matter of making a list of what is important to you (e.g., family, work, health, etc.) and then organizing these things in order of importance. Typically, the things you spend the most time doing are the things that are most important to you. For instance, do you spend more time each week reading novels or watching T.V. than you do exercising or preparing healthy meals for yourself. At one time or another, most of us have probably claimed, "I simply do not have time to exercise" or "I can't afford to eat that healthy". These are not matters of time or money. They are matters of priorities. These priorities are not right or wrong, good or bad. They are just your priorities. So don't fall into the self-judgment trap. That is a sure-fire way to fail at achieving your goal before you even begin to try.
At least now having done this little exercise, you are more aware of what your priorities have been then you were before. If this causes you to want to change your priorities, this is an important step toward making a healthy lifestyle change. Remember, if we can change the priorities the behavior will follow. But don't make any changes until you consider the remaining steps and understand what is involved in this process.
People often say, "My problem is not priorities, it is lack of commitment." So what's the difference? Without getting into semantics, we come back to the real question: Are you spending the most time on the things that are most important to you? If you doubt that your behavior is not reflecting your priorities and instead feel that you simply lack commitment, then ask yourself why you think you are more committed to something that is not so important to you. Does that make sense?
2. Become Aware of Your Belief Systems
Now that you are more aware of your priorities, consider this. An individual's priorities are determined by his belief system, and that belief system is based on past experiences and conscious choice. Here is an example. We have been told for years that eating eggs and butter will raise our cholesterol and lead to heart disease. We believed this because our doctors and the media told us it was so. From the moment we chose to believe it we changed our behavior and avoided eating eggs and butter. However, we are now being told that, based on current scientific research, dietary cholesterol from eggs and butter has very little, if any, impact on cholesterol levels in the blood, and that the bigger dietary culprits in elevated blood cholesterol levels are trans fats, refined sugars and processed carbohydrates.
The question of which studies or positions you will follow does not necessarily depend on which ones are correct. It depends more on which ones make the most sense to you --- which ones you believe. This is often the most difficult concept to grasp because it goes against everything we have been taught with regard to nutrition and health. We have been taught to believe that there is a right way and a wrong way and these rules apply to everyone. I am sure you can think of many instances when you did something despite your knowledge that it was wrong.
Another way to look at this is to realize that the past does not equal the present or the future. If you look at the sources of your beliefs or behaviors, you will realize that most of them exist because of an experience you had or lesson you learned in the past. If you realize that this belief or behavior is holding you back today, you must ask yourself why you continue to believe or behave in this manner. This belief or behavior may have served you well then in that prior situation. But is it serving you well today? And do you think it will serve you well in the future?
The more aware you are of what you really believe in, the more likely you are to make the choices and behave in the manner that suits your best interests. If you want your lifestyle to change then you must be ready to change your self-image.
3. Create an Individualized Strategy
The standardized one-size-fits-all approach is ineffective and may even be hazardous to your health. We are all individuals and, as such, are as different on the inside as we are on the outside. As human beings, we are each biochemically and physiologically unique. This is precisely why no single diet or exercise program works for everyone. If there was such a program, we would all be on it and there wouldn't be several completely different approaches represented on the New York Times best-sellers list every week.
Your goal should be to determine which method or approach will work best for you, not what has worked for someone else. This depends as much on your biochemical and physiological individuality as it does on your ability and willingness to adhere to a new exercise program or diet plan. It has been my experience that an individual will not make any such lifestyle change unless it feels right or makes sense to the individual. The largest institutions in the world - religions - are based on belief. If you practice any one particular religion you chose that religion because, based on all of the information available to you, it made the most sense to you or because it felt right in your heart. James Allen said: "As a man thinketh in his heart, so shall he be."
Once you acknowledge and appreciate the need for an individualized strategy, how do you actually create one? I recommend you find a qualified professional within the area of expertise appropriate for your goal. If you want to focus on improving your eating habits, find a certified nutritional consultant. If you want to begin or change your exercise program, find a certified fitness trainer. If you need an overall lifestyle change, you may need a lifestyle coach or engage the services of more than one consultant. In any case, you should seek the guidance of a trained professional who will not simply give you a standardized or one-size-fits-all approach. You need someone who will take your health history and current lifestyle into consideration before helping you to develop a personalized approach.
4. Tap Into Your Desire/Motivation
Now that we know you will not likely take any actions that go against your belief system, what do you do about it? If your belief system is not giving you the results you desire, you must change your belief system. This is not an easy task. It requires a willingness and openness to change. Even if you seek the advice of a health professional, it may be that professional's job to give you all of the information and guidance necessary to help you to change, but it is ultimately your responsibility to implement the change. You must have the desire to change.
Anyone who has ever quit smoking will tell you that they did not quit until they wanted to quit, until they had the desire to quit. Even when they acknowledged that smoking was bad for them or their friends and loved ones begged them to quit it was not enough. They had to reach a point where they wanted better health for themselves and acceptance from their friends and loved ones. They had to desire these things more than the pleasure they got from smoking. How badly do you want to change? What does it mean to you?
Yet another way to phrase this question is, "What is your WHY?" If you know your "Why", you know your purpose and will always have that to refocus on whenever you become distracted or unmotivated.
5. Visualize Your Success
One of the powerful ways to ensure your success is to visualize a day in your life when you have attained your goal. Imagine yourself on a day sometime in the near future when you are healthier and happier because you have changed your lifestyle. Imagine that you have reached your ideal weight, or you are no longer ashamed of your body, or you have reached your desired level of strength, energy and endurance. Get a clear picture in your mind of yourself going about your new daily routine. Imagine it as if it was happening right at this moment. Check in with your senses. How does it feel? How does it smell? How does it look and sound? Enjoy the experience of a healthier lifestyle - of success. Was it worth the commitment you made to yourself? Are you happy? That's what it's all about, isn't it?
Numerous studies have shown that visualization is an extremely effective tool that is used by professional athletes, celebrities, millionaires, and successful people in all walks of life. Perhaps it is so effective because it taps into the emotional aspect of your determination. Perhaps visualization is a way of implanting your success within your unconscious mind. Carl Jung said that our unconscious mind communicates with our conscious mind through pictures or images, not through words. Once you have created that picture in mind it is easy to bring it back up whenever you want or need to see it again. It serves as your motivation, your inspiration. If you can see something, then you can believe it and you can achieve it.
So find yourself a quiet place where you go without being distracted and get that picture of success in your mind. And then live every day as if you have already succeeded. This will change your attitude and it will change your life.
6. Make the Decision - Make the Commitment
Probably the most overlooked and most difficult step in making a change is making the decision to change. Everyone has within himself the power to change. While it is true that in light of the variety of circumstances and life situations in which we find ourselves it is more difficult for some people to change than it is for others, we all have the power to change. Many times, the difference between someone who succeeds and someone who does not is that the successful person made the decision to succeed. You can have the best of intentions and make all of the plans necessary to make a change, but until you actually decide to take action nothing will ever come of those intentions and plans.
An important thing to keep in mind concerning any life-changing decision is that it should be viewed as a commitment. A decision stated in language such as, "I think I can do that", or "I'll try to do this" is not really a decision at all. This is you thinking about making a decision. And if you have always viewed yourself as an "indecisive" person, remember what we discussed in step number 2 --- the past does not equal the present or the future. If you want your lifestyle to change, then you must change your self-image. Get serious about your commitment to yourself. You can waiver all you want beforehand, but when you have finally made the decision, you must actually decide that you will attain your goal and nothing will stand in your way. It's a matter of choice.
The magical thing about a true commitment is that once you actually make the decision, attaining your goal suddenly becomes a much more likely result. It's what we all want, and we can have it if we really, truly want it. It's a matter of choice.
Priorities... Commitment... Awareness of your belief system... An individualized strategy... And the desire to make it all happen. These are the keys to making a healthy lifestyle change, or any change for that matter. Just make the decision and watch it happen! It's what we all want, and we can have it if we really, truly want it. It's a matter of choice.

Have you always dreamt of the RV lifestyle, whether it is as a weekend warrior or full-timer? If you are seriously considering an RV lifestyle, you should take some time to consider all the factors to make sure it is the route you should take. It is important you make a wise financing decision, for this could influence your future lifestyle on the road in a positive or negative way. Be knowledgeable.
While RVing isn't for everyone, many people around the world are enjoying this lifestyle. You can live on the road full-time, part-time, or even rent a motor home for one weekend out of the year. Do some research, and pick the lifestyle that suits you!
